Nikki Addimando was sentenced to 19 years for the murder of her abusive boyfriend, and boy has it stirred some controversy with the public. While some believe that her actions were in self-defense, despite that her belated abuser was sleeping, other’s argue that NY DV laws do not allow for a woman to kill her abuser in his sleep. I, personally, feel that anyone who says she did not act in self-defense… clearly does not understand how prolonged domestic violence works and the extent of the threat of the abuser. Either way, the public is outraged over Judge McLoughlin’s lack of mercy on the DV victim and I have a feeling we haven’t heard the last of this. Justice Warriors… rise up and be heard.
